Know your MEAns: Jec and Jen Conlu

Hi! What are your names?

Jessica Conlu (Jec)

What school are you from?

Jec: We’re both from St. Scho.

Jen: Marikina.

Jec: Yes, St. Scho College has a branch in Marikina! @-) Haha.

What’s it like to have a twin?

Jec: Parang wala lang. ) Paminsan-minsan ko lang narerealize na medyo kamukha ko pala si Jen. Minsan nakakabawas din ng identity…tinatawag na lang kami na CONLU, KAMBAL, TWINS, JENC, or JE—! (instead of JE—C or JE—N) para raw safe kung sakaling magkamali sila ng tawag from afar. Something like that. Haha. Pero fun din kasi I have a clone. Beneficial pa. Dati, nagamit ko na rin yung 1×1 id pic ni Jen nung nakalimutan ko yung akin.

Jen: Masaya kasi may kahati ako sa ulam. ) When we go to a resto/fastfood like Jollibee, Jec orders the spaghetti and chicken value meal while I order burger and fries. Tapos hahatiin naming yun equally. (As in dapat equal talaga kundi magagalit yung isa. Haha.) Ang fun kasi we eat a variety of food in one meal. Hihi. Minsan ang awkward kasi yung ibang tao biglang lumilingon. Magkamukha daw yata kami. Weird. )

Who’s older? By how much?

Jec: We had a caesarean birth because we were too big, fat and heavy. ) Technically, ako yata yung unang pinili ng doktor na ilabas sa tiyan ng nanay namin. So I think that makes me older… by a minute!

Jen: I proclaimed myself as the younger twin kahit hindi ako sure kung ako nga. )

Do you have any experience about those twin psychic connections where in one would automatically know if something happened to the other?

Jec: Not really. Pero medyo nag-aaply sa ‘min yung idea na pag may sakit yung isa, magkakasakit din yung isa. But it’s not all about our genetic traits as twins or our similar copies of DNA. ) Nagkakahawaan lang kami usually. We sleep in the same room with two beds na pinagdikit. Pero we sleep on the farthest end of each bed. Minsan may barrier pa na unan and stuff toys. Haha.

Jen: And sometimes we have the same stuff going on in our heads. Parang bigla na lang kaming sabay na kakanta ng exactly the same lines of the same song. Tas minsan…

Jec and Jen: sabay kaming nagsasalita ng parehong sentence.

Jen: Haha. K.

Jec: Weh.

Jen:

Do you get along well with each other?

Jec: I think so. Whatchathenk, Jen?

Jen: :”> Awwww.

Jec: Eww. Hindi pala.

Jen: Kaw talaga. <3 <3 <3

Jec: Shattap. Feeler you.

Jen: ) Pero yeah, ok naman kami. Marami kaming napag-uusapan na mga bagay-bagay.

Jec: Wala kasing age gap. :>

Jen: Meron kayaaaaaa!

Jec: Foine. May 1-minute age gap.

We heard that you two led the freshies team in MIB. How did you get to be that good in basketball?

Jen: We did not lead them. We were just with the team. :> Galing din kaya nina Nicole Dy, Bea Que and Adie Villegas! \m/

Jec: Yeaahh! :> It all started with larong-kalye. Our neighbour was a basketball player and their gate was shaped like a basketball. It inspired us to play basketball. Haha.

Jen: Weh. Haha. Pero yeah, we had playmates who played basketball so we learned to play as well. :> Then during our senior year, we joined our HS basketball club and tried for varsity.

Jec: We got accepted for some reason. Ang laki daw kasi namin. ) Pwede pa raw naming lituhin yung kalaban.

Jen: Parehong Conlu kasi nakalagay sa jersey namin dati. Pareho pa kami ng hairstyle and all. Jec: Then we won ONE tournament because we only had ONE opponent. Hihi.

Jen: At that time, we had training with our coach so we learned to play bball. :>

Do you guys have sibling rivalry with acads, sports and the like?

Jen: Nahhh.

Jec: Nooo.

Jen: >:D

Jec: <

You guys obviously look exactly alike, but how are you guys different from each other?

Jec: No we don’t look alike.

Jen: Jec’s fatter.

Jec: And you have a fat mole. You’re smaller.

Jen: Only by a cm.

Jec: But you’re still smaller.

Jen: Your voice is higher.

Jec: Minsan lang… It’s usually the same pitch as yours!

Jen: Dati magkaiba yung side ng “bangs” namin… Sa akin to the right, si Jec to the left. Pero one day, she decided to copy my side of the bangs.

Jec: Pagkapasok ko sa school, ang daming tumawag sa ‘kin ng Jen. Kamukha ko na raw siya. How sad. )

Jen: But we actually have the same personalities, preferences, hobbies, etc.

What does one have which the other doesn’t?

Jec: THE mole.

Jen: Uy beauty mark daw yun. It’s my asset. :>

Jec: Sabi mo eh. )

Jen: Wala kaming maisip na matinong sagot as of the moment. @-)

Jec: Halos pareho kasi kami sa lahat.

Jen: Pero may individuality pa naman kami! )

Who’s the better twin?

Jen: Secret. Haha. Joke lang.

Jec: No one’s better.

Jec: Uh-huh. :>

How do you want to be identified by the rest of your friends or batch? (to each person)

Jen: I wanna be identified as Jen. Hindi lang yung twin ni Jec or one of the twins. :>

Jec: I wanna be identified correctly, not as Jen. ) Alala ko dati may English blockmate si Jen na kinausap ako nang pagkatagal-tagal about Eng stuff. Oo na lang ako nang oo sa kanya. Pagkatapos niya magsalita, sabi ko na lang… “Hi! Btw, I’m not Jen. And you are?” Haha. K. Wala lang.

Jen: Naganun na rin ako dati ng isa mong classmate! Hindi ko yata pinansin. )

Jec: Haha. Like Jen, I want to be identified as Jec aside from being the other half of “the Conlu twins.”

Jen: Yeah.
