President’s Cup Finals

The final games of the President’s Cup proved to be a psychological war as well, as the top teams of each division looked to exploit mismatches which would allow them to outplay their opponents and grind out the victories.

Throughout the games, the teams’ floor generals constantly scouted for weak links in the defense that could be used to their advantage.  The wing players and shooters zipped through screens in order to create that sliver of space that was needed to fire long-range bombs from beyond the arc, and the big men planted themselves like tree trunks in the paint area in order to impose their dominance under the basket.

As the games went on, fatigue started to creep in into the play of the teams, and players had to dig deep into their reserves to summon the strength needed to execute during crunch time.

It was Team Mapa that was able to come out on top at the end of the tournament.  In the final minutes of their championship match against the fastbreaking Team Copuyoc, Team Mapa’s indomitable will to win, coupled with scrappy defensive stops and crucial clutch baskets allowed them to put away their opponent for good.

Team Lontok garnered 3rd place, Team Copuyoc finished in 2nd place, and Team Mapa earned 1st place.

Final Score:
Elimination Matches: MAPA def. TANCHOCO 67-48 | COPUYOC def. LONTOK 62-49
3rd Place Match: LONTOK def. TANCHOCO 72-69
Championship Match: MAPA def. COPUYOC 53-50
